Fluid Dynamics

Authors/Artists: ZEKM and Jerky

Fluid Dynamics is a saucy and fun zine. I'll run down what I find great about both comics first.

They both have amazing artwork with distinct pleasing styles. The comics have a well thought out panel layout with great flow that allow for a flexible and robust pace to each story.

The panel framing is excellent, distance shots establish the size of Prowl and Blurr compared to Swindle and Verity. They also help to set the stage for their interactions and there’s a clear sense of where each character is positioned during sex. Close up shots increase the erotic and emotional tension and weave together well with larger panels for intense and sensory scenes.

Now I'm going to talk about the comics separately.

Swindle and Blurr embracing, Swindle is naked

First, ZEKM's comic. What I liked in here was the chiaroscuro, there was a strong sense of weight and space created by the use of solid black and white. ZEKM's line work also is wonderful at portraying texture, materials and depth. There was a great contrast between the hard edges of Blurr and Swindle's soft body with their use of rounded and straight lines.

In the first panel Verity tells Prowl 'I bet I could fit both hands up there'. In the seccond Prowl says 'Do it'

Jerky's comic also has wonderful line work. The use of textured shading and lines to create depth, shadow and colour is skilfully done. The interactions between Prowl and Verity were entertaining and established both characters to the reader quickly. The facial expressions were very expressive and the use of exaggeration was skilfully done to create humour.

Overall I am blown away by Jerky and ZEKM's skill in comic making. I'm very glad I was able to purchase this wonderful zine at TFCon 2022.
